Deepak Biswas is a Counsel at Acara Law and has a wide range of experience in litigious and non-litigious work, primarily in corporate/commercial sphere. Deepak’s areas of expertise include commercial litigation/Dispute Resolution, Electricity Regulatory and Disputes, Civil Litigation, Insolvency & Bankruptcy and Corporate Advisory. He has also honed his litigation skills in the Energy and Power sector, representing Generating Companies and State Utilities across State Regulators, the Appellate Tribunal for Electricity, and Supreme Court of India.

Deepak has appeared and represented Clients before various fora like the Supreme Court, High Courts, National Company Law Tribunal and Appellate Tribunal, Debt Recovery Tribunals, Appellate Tribunal for Electricity Law, Central Government Industrial Tribunal, Central Administrative Tribunal, National and District Consumer Dispute Redressal Commissions, State Electricity Regulatory Commissions, Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India, etc. He has provided strategic legal advice including drafting and representation in all types of litigation such as commercial disputes, recovery proceedings, contractual disputes, real estate disputes, shareholder disputes, tax disputes, regulatory litigation, debt recovery, insolvency and bankruptcy litigation, economic offences, as well as litigation pertaining to constitutional matters.

Deepak has represented and advised multiple multinational group companies in commercial litigations/arbitrations, real estate transactions, regulatory compliances, insolvency and restructuring proceedings etc. A brief indicative list of the clientele, who he has advised and continue to work for, includes ABB India Ltd., the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation, Schneider Electric India Private Limited (including other group companies), SMS India Private Limited, Fresenius Medical Care India Pvt. Ltd., Titagarh Wagons Limited amongst others.

Deepak completed his BSL., LL.B. from Symbiosis Society’s Law College, Pune in 2005. He commenced his practice in the chambers of Mr. Rajiv Shakdher, Sr. Adv. and thereafter, in the chambers of Mr. Sanjay Sen, Senior Advocate. He has also worked at some of the reputed law firms in the country such as AZB and Partners, Luthra and Luthra Law Offices, Bharucha & Partners and Praxis Partners, New Delhi. He was the founder and Partner at S&B Partners from 2013-2017 where he set his independent litigation and dispute resolution practice.
